From June 15 to September 15, 2025, there will be major changes to the train service to Varenna and the Valtellina area due to railway works.

🚧 Travel Alert: Disruption on the Milan–Lecco–Sondrio Railway Line (June 15 – September 15, 2025)
If you’re planning a trip to Valtellina, Lake Como, or Varenna during summer 2025,
please note important changes to the Milan–Lecco–Sondrio railway line
due to infrastructure upgrades ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics.
🗓 Work period:
June 15 to September 15, 2025
🛤 Affected route:
Lecco – Tirano: complete train service suspension.
🚍 Replacement Services and Travel Alternatives
✅ Trenord Replacement Buses:
Lecco – Colico route: buses every 15 minutes, from 5:40 AM to 9:00 PM
Stops include Varenna-Esino and other intermediate stations
Additional services from Colico to Tirano and Sondrio to Tirano
❌ After 9:00 PM: limited evening service – plan accordingly
📍 From Milan to Varenna:
Train to Lecco, then replacement bus to Varenna-Esino
Always check schedules and connections in advance

🚉 From Como to Bellagio/Varenna:
Hydrofoils and ferries to Bellagio and Varenna
🚖 Taxis and private transfers available from Lecco or Como (booking recommended)
