Changes to summer train connections
From June 15 to September 15, 2025, there will be major changes to the train service to Varenna and the Valtellina area due to railway works.

Travel Alert: Disruption on the Milan–Lecco–Sondrio Railway Line (June 15 – September 15, 2025)
If you’re planning a trip to Valtellina, Lake Como, or Varenna during summer 2025,
please note important changes to the Milan–Lecco–Sondrio railway line
due to infrastructure upgrades ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Work period:
June 15 to September 15, 2025
Affected route:
Lecco – Tirano: complete train service suspension.
Replacement Services and Travel Alternatives
Trenord Replacement Buses:
Lecco – Colico route: buses every 15 minutes, from 5:40 AM to 9:00 PM
Stops include Varenna-Esino and other intermediate stations
Additional services from Colico to Tirano and Sondrio to Tirano
After 9:00 PM: limited evening service – plan accordingly
From Milan to Varenna:
Train to Lecco, then replacement bus to Varenna-Esino
Always check schedules and connections in advance
Lake and Road Alternatives
From Como to Bellagio/Varenna:
Hydrofoils and ferries to Bellagio and Varenna
Taxis and private transfers available from Lecco or Como (booking recommended)
